well i decided to get a legit copy of vista and my system specs are as follows

amd athlon xp3000 2.17ghz socket A
1gb ddr400 ram
HIS x1950 pro 256mb gddr3 agp gfx

i’ve had the odd glitch with incompatible software but this was to be expected.

it has a few new cosmetic features such as when you can show all you windows side by side, althought this is nice. i have never found a use for it.

anoher downside is that gaming is slower than when i was using windows xp pro.

60fps on my old gfx card 6600 128mb now only at 40-50fps on a X1950pro……

but you have to weigh up what you want from your o/s

i wanted a legal 1 and with xp becoming obsolete took the plunge to vista.

There’s not enough software for Vista right now. so, i just stick with XP at the moment.

Iâ€™ve currently got an AMD 3500+ processor and 2gb machine from a couple of years ago – would Vista run ok on this setup or would I benefit from waiting till I eventually upgrade to an Intel Core Duo chip?

Should be enough but check with the upgrade advisor to check

I’ve been holding back on getting Vista so far, but am becoming increasingly tempted to try it out – it certainly sounds good for performance and the interface, of which I’m starting to tire of XP – I seem to be running too much at once perhaps!

I’m actually one of those who are waiting for Vista SP1 before considering upgrading heh. It looks real good and I’m really tempted but I think I’ll wait a little more just to be on the safe side.

I have been using it for 6 months now and it rocks! Simply superb. I have lost certain functionality in terms of apps that are not yet compatible with VISTA. so what! What do you have Virtual PC for? Just move your XP to virtual environment… ;-)

I just love it! Operates well on laptop and desktop.

Yep on Vista and love it. Okay mostly, but I enjoy the look and feel more than XP. It also feels peppier than XP on my laptop. Ironically, the 32 bit version of Vista seems faster than the 64 bit!
