Connected Internet Is Two Years Old!

I’ve just realised that it’s my blog’s 2nd birthday today! It’s had its ups and downs over this time, particularly when I’ve taken some very long extended breaks but it’s definitely on the up now thanks to some major TLC since October 2006.

I haven’t planned anything special as today kinda sneaked up on me, but thanks to gmail I do have an email exchange I had with Darren Rowse just 48 hours after starting my blog.

What makes me laugh when I read this exchange is that even though I started blogging as a work-related experiment, somewhere deep inside me there was a wannabe problogger trying to break free!

I’ll be writing some tips over the next few days that might interest you – the last one is in response to your question of ‘general blog vs niche blog’. Hope you don’t take offencse – but I strongly believe you should take notice of that advice you’ve been given as a general blog is always going to be harder work to make profitable than a niche one.

Hi Darren

Thanks for taking the time to give me some encouragement. I’m amazed by how friendly and helpful the blogging community is. If you do get a chance can you have a look at my blog and maybe give me some tips on how to generate more traffic please. One tip I’ve already been given is to write about one topic rather than the many I’m covering now – however, what I’m hoping to do is write frequently so the fact that I’m covering a lot of topics that interest me won’t be a hindrance.

Regards

Everton

Hi there Everton – welcome to blogging. I think you’re onto the right
approach – start with content, write lots of it and as you build traffic
begin to explore how to add income streams. All the best with it.

If you have questions along the way let me know.

My first blog is now 48 hours old, although ‘m hooked already. At the moment my priority is to get some content onto my log to give it an indentity but very shortly I am interested in seeing how I an generate a (probably small) cashflow. Thanks for producing a very helpful blog. Who knows one day my blog may be in the top 100 thanks to people like you! Maybe you could look in on me every now and then and give me some tips
