Look Out For Another Feedburner Sub Increase Today

It seems that the easiest way to increase the number of subscribers ‘reading’ your site is not to write better posts, but to wait for Feedburner to change the way it calculates the subs number. Last month we had a big increase when Google Reader was included, and tomorrow the subscriber count should go up again for many blogs thanks to a change in the algorithm.
Feedburner have published details of the actual change for those of you who are interested:
We live in a world where all web-based aggregators are not created equal. Given that, FeedBurner maintains different algorithms for various types of clients that accommodate different reporting mechanisms. Today, we “retired” one of these – the Maximum algorithm – in favor of its more sophisticated brother – the Cluster algorithm. Sibling rivalry aside, our Cluster algorithm has shown itself to be a more accurate way to count subscriptions, taking into account elusive feed aliases and better reflecting the reality of how many subscribers are accessing your media. To clarify, any increases in subscription numbers aren’t “new” subscribers, rather it reflects an improvement to how we calculate data for your feed.
All make sense now? My feedcount currently stands at 1293, so I’ll be looking for any significant changes. Let me know if you see a big swing in your feedcount.
