CCleaner Compatible With Windows Vista

CCleaner

One of my favourite pieces of freeware CCleaner is now compatible with Windows Vista. This is great news as although CCleaner is great for freeing up HDD space, my favourite feature is the way it removes unnecessary startup programs.

I’ve been running Vista for nearly two months now and things have definitely started to slow down, so I need to start developing a Vista housekeeping routine to keep my PC running smoothly.

Thanks to Ryan for the lead.

    This should help me recover some badly needed HD space. Thanks.

    I ran it this morning and deleted some crap in my startup programs and registry and Vista is running smoothly again.

    I think I’m going to have to donate some cash to CCleaner as I’m feeling guilty getting so much value for free.

    I still haven’t jumped on the Vista bandwagon but it’s just a matter of time. One of the major reasons I’ve been slow to do it is the lack of compatibility associated with about 90% of the software that I use (With the exception of Windows and PC games I only use Open Souce of free software).

    It’s definitely good to see CCleaner making the jump to vista - I’m sure we’ll see more going that route in the coming months too.

    For anyone not using CCleaner I can attest to it’s greatness. I’ve been using it for several months and absolutely love it - it’s a great one click solution for wiping out some of the junk that accrues over time.

    There is no mention of CC Cleaner being compatible with Vista. Where did you get this info? All comments these comments sound like advertising….. I went through CC Cleaner’s forum and there is precious little info on Vista. Nothing that would verify compatibility….?

    I stand corrected. There it is right in the C++ topic:
    “Complete rebuild in C++
    With the requirements for a portable version, 64-bit compatibility and Windows Vista increasing against the limitations of the old architecture. We decided to rebuild the entire CCleaner application in highly optimized C++.”

    I guess I was scanning for a “Vista compatible” signpost.
    I should add that I’ve been very pleased with CC Cleaner on my old XP box and am looking forward to a junk-scrapping future on my new Vista machine. Thanks.
