New Data Tariffs From Vodafone Coming In June

Vodafone

I called Vodafone yesterday to see if I could move onto a new tariff to reduce my data bill which is growing again. The operator I spoke to couldn’t help talking about the new data packages the Vodafone will be launching in June. He said that although the tariffs wouldn’t include an unlimited option they would offer much better rates.

He said that Vodafone has decided to do this because at the same time as more people have started to use their phones online, they’d been getting a lot of complaints about the $2.35/MB charges.

I really hope that the new Vodafone packages deliver as my data charges at the moment are about twice my voice costs even though I ration my usage. VoIP usage will probably still be excluded like with T-Mobile wen ‘n’ walk, but the new packages sound like they’re going to be a step in the right direction.

  • You should probably ask them why teh Germans get a data flatrate for ~ 50 Euros. Not a real flatrate but a fair use one with a 5 GB limit and 0.50 Euros for every MB after that.

  • I have a feeling the new tariffs will be similar. 5GB will be more than enough for me. At the moment I'm doing about 40MB/pm but if the charges were less I think I'd still be under 100MB/pm as I tend to look for a wireless network first before using 3G.
