How Accurate Are Page Rank Predictors?

How accurate are Page Rank predictors? Whenever you’ve used them in the past have their predictions proven to be correct? I’ve just used one for the first time and it said that:

I’m trying not to get my hopes up to much, but it’ll be brilliant if I finally get a Page Rank increase as I’ve been stuck on 5 for 18 months, which has been annoying as I got PR5 within 6 months and PR4 within 1. If it is true, then my strategy of buying some Text Link Ads, releasing my theme, adding my sites to directories, starting my own directory and posting frequently again seems to have paid off.

I’m just as excited about the forum and the directory going up to PR6. A PR6 directory should attract more listings which will hopefully increase the amount of traffic going through it, and a PR6 forum will help me sell more text-links. I’ve already managed to sell 5 text links on the forum even without it having a Page Rank. It will also vindicate my decision to use sub-directories rather than sub-domains for their urls, so that they would benefit fully from the main domains Page Rank.

Does anyone know when the next Google Page Rank update is due? Anyone else expecting or hoping for a Page Rank increase?

  • Yeah I am also expecting a huge PR for my site....its just one and half month old....3 weeks ago the predicted PR was 4, last week 5 and today its 6!!! can somebody explain this????

  • Page Rank Predictions really worked from. My pagerank was predicted to jump from 0 - 6 (it really happened), then it was predicted from 6 - 5 (which was also true). Now PR predictions say I'll climb to 7!

    I hope to make some serious bucks from TLA :P

    @Thilak - your site is coming up as PR0 at the moment - any idea why?
  • I dont trust them that much, if they are saying a 7 I would rather assume a 6.

    Off topic, Everton your feed is loading like 20 posts every other time on Bloglines, its due to some dynamic content that you put there. Its annoying for bloglines readers, not sure how it behaves on other readers though
  • Thanks for the heads up on a potential bloglines issue. Definitely going to look into that as bloglines is a big client.

    I can't think of anything I'm doing that's different to any other WP feed.

    The PR predictor says my blog will have PR5 the first time, and it turns out to be 3. THe second update, it says 5 again but it turns to be only 4. And now, I checked it again and it says it will be 5, hope it's true this time. Not really accurate IMO.
  • I`m predicting a PR 5-6 for enblogopedia and 0 for my new (this) blog!
    I hope that enblogopedia get a PR6, but if it really happened then, it would be so funny having a PR6 site and not indexed in google, don't you think? :P

    Ok, so I ran the pagerank predictor and it says AskDanAndJennifer.com is going from PR4 to PR6.

    BUT WHEN??? That's what i don't see anywhere. Everton, do you have any idea?

    We've been PR4 for about 3 months now btw.

    According to Thilak the next update is due at the start of April - I just hope all of our predictions come true!
