‘Commuter’ Skis Down London Tube Escalator

View Comments March 30, 2007 | Everton

I actually saw this headline in Google Reader from the BBC, but it’s only when I saw the video on The Register that I realised how insane this was. This YouTube video features Norwegian Peter Olenick skiing down Europe’s longest escalator, all 300ft of it, at Angel Tube station in London.

After watching it a few times I think he’s lucky he didn’t do himself some serious damage. How long do you think it will be before someone has a major accident filming a video intended for YouTube? Or, has it already happened?

  • I saw this the other day and couldn't get over just how dumb it was. I'm a regular visitor to Angel tube station and that escalator is seriously long! A friend of mine tried sliding down the handrail a few months back and only succeeded in mashing his face up as he hit the deck...

Off to Angel tonight, strangely enough. I think I'll avoid anyone with skis, though ;)
