In its latest attempt to woo the developer community, Yahoo! released the API for Yahoo Mail yesterday. This was missed by most sites in amongst the reporting of Yahoo adding unlimited email storage from May. I think this is a very smart move by Yahoo in an attempt to make an already very popular service even better.
I actually think this is the bigger story of the two, as although unlimited email storage may sound impressive the reality is that the majority of users have small mailboxes. Â However, releasing the API for Yahoo Mail will allow developers to access the Yahoo Mail service and develop new functionality, services and features which could be used potentially by a massive 249 million Yahoo Mail users.
