Connected Internet Directory Hits 200 Links
The Connected Internet Directory has just added its 200th link and about 10% of the links have added a reciprocal link to my site even though this isn’t a requirement. I’m quite happy with this as I haven’t paid a penny to promote the directory(apart from $25 to buy the software) and so far I’ve only spent about 3-4 hours on it. What’s even better is that it is surprisingly generating a CPM of around $4 which isn’t bad. If you’re looking for a way to generate some backlinks then launching a directory might be a cost-effective way.
The Page Rank of the directory is predicted to rise to 6 next month which hopefully will lead to more incoming traffic as well as attracting more links. If you haven’t added your link yet, then I’d do it now as I can’t think of many other places where you can get a free link from a PR6 site. I’m going to do some tweaks next month to increase the prominence of reciprocal links, so if you want maximise your listing then don’t forget to add the button to help spread the word!

Interesting idea that’s very cost effective!
Thanks for the reminder, I’ve been meaning to add my site to the directory for a while now.

Quite an interesting idea. Does this have much of, any, effect on the parent blog, or does the directory act mostly as its own entity?

Now how can I resist that? Submitted mine. Great offer, thanks.

the directory is setup on the same domain so it will have an effect on the blog. So far I’ve obtained about 30 backlinks for $25 in total, so it’s good value. Once I do a bit of promotion of the directory once it’s page rank goes up who knows how many extra links I will get, plus a bit more adsense income

I guess a more specific question would have been “do reciprocal links point back to the parent domain (which happens to be this blog), or to the directory specifically (in which case it’s the subpage that gets direct benefit, which is then shared between all the listed links)”.
I’ve also just realized that running a directory will give a very nice Alexa boost, as that is always aggregated for the parent domain
