Famesource.com – When Will I Be Famous?

I just got contacted by Allen Vartazarian the CEO of Famesource.com, a new website which is still in beta which provides a platform for talented individuals to showcase their talent. Categories include Music, Acting, Sports, Comedy, Modeling, Dance, and Other.
The free portal allows users to upload videos, images, and audio for visitors to vote on ‘a-la-digg’, with the top content being promoted to the homepage. One feature that I think could cause problems though is that users can buy their ‘fame’ using ‘Famebucks’, a pseudo-currency that is purchased with real money that allows users to buy certain slots on the site to gain exposure. All that would be needed is for a few record companies to out-bid normal individuals to totally ruin the system.
I think the site could become an interesting destination site for individuals who just want to be entertained, but also for people in the performing industries looking for new talent. The site is still a bit light on content and has been seeded with content to get it going, including my favourite breakdancing video. Everytime I watch it I can’t believe how strong he is or his balance, and how on earth his back doesn’t break!
One to watch I think. I wonder how long it will be before someone is ‘discovered’ on Famesource?
