Apart from the well-known Nintendo Wii and PlayStation game consoles, Japan as a nation has constantly surprised us by producing some weird and wonderful gadgets. Let me just take you through some of my recent finds of the weird and wonderful gizmos made in Japan.
First up, Pussycat Dolls. It’s not the music band that is made up by 5 sexy girls I’m talking about. I’m talking about the 100% handmade Wartworks of cats in different actions. These cunning works are from a lady artist called Chizuko Hayashi from Sendai, Japan. Each set is different from another as the lady leaves the exact details in terms of colors and positions to the moment while still keeping the main theme.
It’s fun and nice to look at the picture, but if I actually get one as a present, I’m afraid I’ll just have to flog it on Ebay (and get $24.99 instead)….
Then, the blingbling mouse. My first impression told me that it’s just a Christmas tree deco ball, little did I know that it’s actually a fully functional computer mouse.
If you’re a hardcore blingbling fan, then it’s definitely the mouse to have, as far as usability is concerned, Talk to the hand..
Thirdly, the wipe-free toilet.

Apparently, Will Smith has got one installed at home (maybe a better looking and dearer one), and has enjoyed it very much:
They’re paper free. Wherever you sit on the toilet, somehow it hits the bull’s eye perfectly. It cleans and then dries you. It is just water and then air.
Well, the man has said it, and I will take his word for it… so if you’re a green environmentalist (or someone simply enjoys getting hit on the butt), you’d better get one…
Finally, lets check out some kickass Robo actions. Japan’s the country that is famed for AIBO the robot dog, the human-shaped robot that can both dance and sing, etc… and they have just added a couple to the list:
The robot Droid, capable of performing different maneuvers for various situations, can be used for household tasks safely, so much so that they are set to join the health care workforce to take care the elderly in the country in the near future.

Then there is Plen, the Skatebot, which will set you back well over $2,000. It skates with style and elegance, definitely a champion in the making…(just a little bit music please)

After seeing these cool robots, I’d like to say:
“I have a dream that one day on the top of the Fuji Mountain the sons of former robots and the sons of former robots owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
……..
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their body.”
Have you found any weird and wonderful gadgets that take your fancy?
