What does the number 100 million remind you of, the number of firefox downloads, the number of online surfers in China, or the number of IE7 installations…?
The new news is that ever since its first was sold in October 2001, more than 100million Apple Ipods have been sold. The 100 millionth was sold just yesterday.
Ipod, the must-have gadget nowadays has got followers from the world of rich , famous and powerful. Among them are the Queen, who owns a silver ipod; the Chancellor Gordon Brown who shouts “I’ve got an iPod and I know how to use it.”; the technophobe Prime Minister Tony Blair, who has to get his daughter to download the music for him; and of course, the born comedian, the United States president Geoge Bush who showed off his white ipod and revealed his tunes to a reporter during an after-interview session, which you can see below:
During the period between 2001 and now, Apple has introduced 5 generations of ipod, 2 generations of ipod mini, ipod nano and the ipod shuffle. Everyone of them was sold like hot potatos.

Though it has got some issues in the past: scratched screens of iPod nano, complaints of a shorter-than-promised battery life, and the occasional explosions, Overall, it’s always been the APPLE in your eye (especially when it saved life).
For a 30 Gb iPod, it holds up to 7500 songs which takes you a whole year to listen to them all, and with a 80 GB ipod, it holds twice as many and takes twice as long. Is that it for iPod? I wonder what’s up next…
