Giganews Increase Usenet Retention To 120 Days

I’ve been expecting Giganews announcement that its Usenet retention (how long old posts are kept for ) has been increased to 120 days, ever since I spotted that my favourite newreader newsleecher had increased it’s search function to 140 days.
Providing 120 days of retention is a major achievement when you consider the share amount of content that is posted each day in newsgroups, which is growing exponentially as file sizes get bigger and users get ever faster connections.
Martin quite rightly says that Giganews is “…the best Usenet provider on the planet…”. Not only does Giganews’ huge 120 day retention shame other Usenet services who tend to only provide 5-7 days retention, but the completion rate is virtually 100%.
If you haven’t tried newsgroups yet and want to get a feel for what’s available then have a look at Newzbin or Binsearch. These sites allow you to very quickly see what content is currently on the newsgroups.
