13yo Skool Girl Is Nu US Txt Msg Champ

13 year old Morgan Pozgar has been crowned the latest US Texting Champion, scooping a $25K prize by texting Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious faster than anybody else. Pozgar ‘trained’ for the event by sending a staggering 8,000 texts on average per day. That’s one every 5.5 minutes - I’d hate for her be one of my friends.
I wonder who would win the World Championship? Maybe they should make texting an Olympic sport at the 2012 London Olympics…

It doesn’t say how long it took her but her texting speed is quoted as 42 seconds for a 151 character phrase.

Something like 0.28 seconds for each character if I’ve done my calculations correctly.
I’m impressed … even if I feel that its a bit silly for the sponsors (LG) to fork out such a huge prize booty. Just had a thought - perhaps texting helps with hand (thumb)-eye coordination development too? Potential research topic ^^
On another note: just read the entry by Engadget and thought the author was quite immature about it. There really wasn’t a need to be so sarcastic!
