Congratulations To Brian Blogger On Getting A Google Grant

Global NeuroScience Initiative Foundation

I’m pretty sure that not many readers are aware that I manage the Brain Blogger site, which is the blog for the Global Neuroscience Initiative Foundation which is a non-profit charity organization for the advancement of neurological and mental health patient welfare, education, and research.

In recognition of the good work that Brain Blogger do, Google have just awarded them a Google Grant. Essentially, the Google Grant program provides in-kind advertising for registered charities. A Google Grants specialist will now be assigned to Brain Blogger to help them spend their large advertising budget (largely AdWords).

I think this is a fantastic scheme and has pushed Google even higher in my estimation. Yes, you could by cynical and say it’s a cheap way for Google to give to charity, but at least they are giving, which is more than can be said for many other organisations.

Helping a charity site by providing your time and expertise could be a much better way of doing some charitable work, than say working in a soup kitchen, as you’ll be adding more value. I’ve definitely found it rewarding and I think Brain Blogger really appreciate my help. I’d encourage all of you to find a way to utilise your talents for charity.

  • Thanks Everton for the mention and your invaluable assistance to our foundation's blog, the GNIF Brain Blogger.

For those interested in sponsoring their own charity and who don't have a specific one in mind, I highly suggest going to VolunteerMatch. There, you can be teamed up with a recognized charity that can benefit from your specific skill sets. Moreover, always check if the charity is registered with their respective governing body (for instance, the IRS in the US which has a site for verifying 501(c)3 tax-exempt organizations). Also, we at the GNIF always need a helping hand, so please visit our volunteer page for further information.

    Enjoy!
  • Congratulations. I remember you mentioned that some time ago, I will definitely check that blog and the Google Grant.

I have permanent link on my site which points to http://giveindia.org/give/common/HomePageAction.do
