What Do You Think Of Joost?

I’ve been using Joost for a day now and I’m very, very impressed (get a Joost invite). Joost is a service that I could easily spend an evening using, which would never happen with YouTube. Joost definitely takes online video to the next level in my view.

Over 50 Connected Internet readers received invites yesterday, including many who I’ve never seen before (where have you guys been hiding?!). What do you guys think of Joost?

The clinchers for me are the full-screen high-quality video and the breadth of quality content available, like music videos and full TV shows. The video looked pretty good even on my big TV. Whereas, with YouTube I would probably only use it for a few minutes at a time to watch a few videos, and then I get bored.

I think what Joost have got right is delivering a sit-back online video service that matches the way that people are used to watching TV. With Joost the content just keeps coming and it can be left running in the background, and you don’t have to keep selecting a new video every couple of minutes like you do with YouTube.

I think it is lovely ^^
Very rich interface, fast and good video quality. I think it uses less B/W also.
I dont think I remember any loading page. ^^
  • That's what I liked about it. I felt like I was watching TV and not an online video. It's definitely a great service with a lot of potential.
  • Its become my preference. I have been with YouTube for a while and one other that might not be appropriate to talk about here. The quality is far superior. Thanks for the invite.

  • The Joost traffic comes mainly through search engines. MSN in particular for me. I personally handed out about 350 invites in two of my posts.
    Still doing...
  • When I work at home I tend to have the TV on in a minimised window, but I think I will now have Joost running.

I think the Skype and Kazaa guys are onto something even bigger here, as if they weren't rich enough already! I wonder if Google are regretting buying YouTube?
  • They might have moved a little too early. Maybe they should have bought Joost instead.
  • I've been a Joost tester for the last 7 months I think. It has definitely improved, but I'm still looking for some good channels. Hopefully the deal with Warner Bros will add something more.

I agree with Brown Baron it has a lot of potential.

Thanks for the invite Everton--unfortunately, I'm running Win2000 and although the installer initially said it might work, it did not allow me to complete the installation.... :-(

I'll pass on some invites, though.

  • If anyone needs more invites let me know. I have around 995 invites left, but only if Everton has run out or needs help sending some out ;)
  • Thanks for the invite to Joost. I've put together a Usability evaluation of the product you may be interested in. Giving full credit to the fine folks here who gave me the opportunity to take a looksee.
