Can The AACS Claim To Own A Number?
Amidst all the fuss and the attempts by the AACS trying to stop websites publishing a certain 128-bit number that allowed HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs to be copied, I hadn’t realised how ludicrious it was for the AACS to lay claim to a number. It’s like me saying that I own the rights to the number 1002.
To highlight this point, Freedom to Tinker are generating random 128-bit numbers that are just begging to be given a good home. I’ve laid claim to 15 EA 70 9B F6 CC 5E 50 2F AE DC 15 11 23 0C 4C and I’ve setup a Google alert so that if anyone ever publishes this number, I will be contacting my lawyers!
