DLO TransDock Deluxe: Steering Wheel Control For Your iPod

View Comments May 26, 2007 | Everton

I’ve been looking into options for using and connecting my iPod to the new car I’ll be getting in a few months, and at first I was quite excited when i saw the DLO TransDock Deluxe, that has a built-in FM Transmitter and a AV Out for sound and also a remote control that attaches to the steering wheel:

But, then I saw where the iPod remote control is attached and realised that it’s designed to be attached to the actual steering wheel rim itself. I really think that’s a bad idea for road safety, and it’s surely going to cause control issues? Why couldn’t they attach it to the steering wheel column like remotes that come with many car stereos?

I think I’m going to splash out and get and get a Dension Gateway 500 to connect my iPod to my car stereo. It may cost £280, but that’s less than a car CD changer, and I’ve found a fitting company that say they will install it for £80, which isn’t too bad.

  • Actually, something is wrong with my count as it is usually in the 1400-1500 range. Don't know why it drops so dramatically some days, even when site traffic is at average levels.

    Hopefully it will recover soon
  • Holy Crap man, I was here yesterday and you had 975 subscribers. Today you've got 1131.

    That's quite a jump in a day!
