No More Urls Or Site Names In Comment Names Please

View Comments May 27, 2007 | Everton

Can readers please stop using urls, products or site names in comment names. The Top Commentators section is to reward my best readers, but it’s not there to be manipulated.

It’s not very helpful for other readers of the site to see in the recent comments that ‘Online Share Trading’ has left another comment in the recent comments or has left 5 comments this week. It would be a lot nicer to see that ‘Dan And Jennifer’ or ‘Martin’ have left another comment.

From today, if any comments are left with a site name, product description or url I will change the commenter name manually.

  • @Rob - it had nothing to do with you.

@Mark - It's not complicated - why don't you just use your name?
  • @Rob: Looks like we need to upload it again
  • Hey E, I notice that my avatar from mybloglog isn't showing up next to my comments.

is there something "up" with that?
  • Bloglyne contains my surname ah well - you da boss... any special dispensations?
  • That was probably me as I noticed that this post came up just after I left my first comment.

    Sorry E

    wont happen again
  • Agreed Everton...Good call.
  • Understand - maybe add your surname as well?
  • Everton - The only reason I use my name they way I do is that Mark is a fairly common name and on many of the other blogs I post Mark from 45n4 was posting and we were getting confused.

It was never my intent to "manipulate" - just wanted folks to know it was me rather than somebody else.
  • Lol looks the idea of John Chow is being used everywhere. Name is what matters.
  • yes...that's right. I agreed.
