Google and Salesforce.com - a partnership to follow.
News
Google and Salesforce.com announced yesterday that they jointly developed Salesforce.com Group Edition, a hosted CRM (Customer Relationship Management) suite that allows small businesses to effectively manage their lead generation processes (executed using Google Adwords). Those leads are later on turned to be customers and its information (Customer Info, Selling Opportunities, Maintenance Contracts etc’) is then managed in Salesforce.com.
Salesforce.com, which was featured in my Top five Web 2.0 Applications for the Enterprise, is considered to be the leading hosted CRM SAAS(Software as a service) solution.
Analysis
As a matter of fact, Salesforce.com users could run Adwords campaigns from within their systems since last August. However, starting yesterday, Salesforce became not only a Google development partner but also its main reseller.
This is excellent news for both Salesforce.com and Google for two main reasons:
- At the short term, it allows Salesforce.com to increase its foot print in the small size business market segment. Moreover, Salesforce is expected to generate a significant income from both the Group Edition licenses and Google Adwords sales generated through their system.
- At the long term, this further intensification in the Google - Salesforce.com partnership, is expected to deliver very interesting products for customers that will decide to switch from desktop based (ie Microsoft) to Web 2.0 enterprise solutions. The reason for that being that fact that Google products (Office productivity applications, such as Gmail and the other Apps), and Salesforce.com (Web based business solutions) complement each other, and can therefore deliver an end to end hosted business software solution for small and midsized business.
It won’t be too adventurous to say that we will be hearing news on this partnership quite soon, and if i might, i would like to speculate and assume that in no more than 3 years, both companies will launch a complete web based integrated business solution.
