I just got through using the Pagerank prediction tool you blogged about earlier, and I can’t possibly believe it’s right, because it has one coming in at a PR of 5 (from 0) and the other at 4 (from none.. it’s a new blog).

We shall see. Meanwhile, I’ll be reading this article to see if I can find ways to maximize my rating without going the way of the link-trading that so many people seem to go for.

Wauw, that is an extensive source of Pagerank information.
Although I read the most information of it, It is certain a good source for understanding Pagerank and building more pagerank-friendly websites.

I kind of agree with you to be honest. For instance, I saw very little traffic advantage when I went from 5 to 6. I agree that PR is probably more a tool for people to quickly gauge a site, rather a tool used to determine search engine listings.

That’s a pretty comprehensive post on pagerank. While I haven’t soaked up everything on the post, there were some points that were enlightening. I’m sure I’ll be reading it more.

the backlinks checked by google is much less than yahoo’s. that is strange.

now, i use the pr prediction tool of IWebtool.com to find that my site will up to pr5 next time. wish the reality.

I’m inclined to equate Google PageRank with Alexa ranking. That is, it seems like a self-propagating – almost viral – factor whose significance is largely predicated by the fact that bloggers & webmasters consider it to be significant.

Or in other words, it’s similar to those “only available for a limited time” Nascar plates (with the 24-karat gold rim) on cheesy late-night informercials – mostly what makes them “collectable” is that someone declared them to be so.

Anyone else see this?
