Track Your Part Time Gigs With Side Job Tracker

For many of us, blogging started as a hobby and turned to be a side kick. Many of us love their day jobs (at least i do!!) but invest many hours a day in getting updated on the latest and greatest and working on our blog/s.

Given the fact that blogging is commonly a “solo flight” venture, in which the blogger is not only the content writer, but also the editor, web designer, PC technician, sales person and marketer, it is imperative that the blogger will be able to make the most of the time he/she spends on his/her blog. In fact, i consider time and project management the most important success factor in every entrepreneurial venture.

As a Web 2.0 enthusiast, i have been looking for a free web based tool that will allow me to track my blogging gigs and make sure i don’t spend too much time on side activities and focus on my core mission.  The tool i found is the extra cool Side Job Track (SJT) . SJT is suitable for freelancers of any kind (developers, designers, electricians, bloggers and many more) looking to manage small side projects. Its features include: web-based job tracking, invoicing, reporting & project management as well as an easy to use time schedule.

From my experience, SJT is easy-to-use and reliable. It is relatively rich as functionality is concerned. However, be aware of a few caveats:

  • You can’t use share it with your team members (in that case, Basecamp – a leading Web 2.0 project management software we mentioned here in the past, should be your choice).
  • It doesn’t integrate with other time management solutions like Microsoft Project or even the aforementioned Basecamp.
  • It was designed, and will run smoothly on Mozilla Firefox.

In summary, if you run a one man show operation, SJT is your friend.

Stay tuned for more Web 2.0 at Connected Internet.
