It’s been nearly 3 months since I kicked off the joint Improving Alexa Rank Experiment. Since the start of the experiment my Alexa Rank has increased as a result from 26,024 to 17,687. I’m certain that improving my Alexa Rank has made it easier to sell Text Link Ads and Sponsored Reviews.
It’ll be interesting to see how other readers including TJP, Engtech, bill and Mark have fared, and whether the experiment has worked as well for them. If you haven’t joined the Alexa Rank experiment yet, then this is how you can get involved:
- Install the Alexa toolbar or Firefox’s SearchStatus extension and set your blog as your homepage. This is the most basic step
- Add an Alexa rank widget on your website
- Encourage others to use the Alexa toolbar. This includes friends, fellow webmasters as well as site visitors/blog readers
- Use Alexa redirects on your website URL. Try this: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.connectedinternet.co.uk. Replace connectedinternet.co.uk with the URL for your website. Leave this redirected URL in blog comments as well as forum signatures. This redirect will count a unique IP address once a day so clicking it multiple times won’t help
You don’t have to implement all four of the points above, but I’m convinced that 1 and 3 definitely help.
