Although I love fast cars, I’ve never really been into Formula 1 until this year. I think this is because when I was growing up my big brother used to hog the one TV in the house on Sundays to watch F1, and I just found it all very dull.
That’s until this year and the emergence of Lewis Hamilton. Ever since I heard that Lewis Hamilton had joined the McLaren team I’ve been intrigued to see how good he really is, as my friend ‘Dollarman’ has been raving about him for around 4 years.
The video below shows Lewis appearing on Blue Peter when he was 7, and again when he was 12. It’s amazing to see how determined he is even at 7 and how much he wants to win. I know other talented 7 year olds (one plays for Chelsea), but I’ve never met any as determined as Lewis. I’m not surprised that Ron Dennis was stunned by the audacity and confidence of the 9 year old Lewis who introduced himself at an awards party and said he would drive for Ron one day.
My favourite bit of the video is the look on Lewis’ face at 4:40 when’s he having a strop because he didn’t win!

I really think that Lewis is going to win the F1 Championship as he’s just getting better and better with every race. I think in the last 7 races he’s finished 3rd,2nd,2nd,2nd,2nd,1st,1st. If he wins two Grand Prix’s, including the British Grand Prix, I think the season will be effectively over.
Given that he’s only just turned 22, he is probably going to be the greatest Grand Prix driver ever.
