I have a dual screen setup on my main PC at home, and I’ve always wanted to find a way to display different wallpapers on each monitor. Although I haven’t quite worked out how to do this, I have found a better solution thanks to gHacks and one of its readers.
gHacks have discovered an amazing wallpaper gallery for dual monitor setups. All of the wallpapers are available in 2560×1024 and 3200×1200 resolutions i.e. if you are running at 1280×1024 on your two monitors you should download the 2560×1024 wallpapers, and the 3200×1200 wallpapers if you are running at 1280×1024.
The final trick to get the wallpapers to span your desktop is to select ’tile’ rather than ‘centre’ when setting the wallpaper. Because the images are so wide, they will stretch to cover both monitors.
