Young Brits Would Rather Give Up Sex Than Their Mobile Phones
British people are known for being a bit weird, which is proven by a recent survey by Carphone Warehouse. In the survey, most respondents aged between 16 and 24 would rater give up alcohol, chocolate, sex, tea or coffer than live without their mobile phone for a month.
We are already starting to see the the impact of the ‘texting’ generation, who have grown up with mobiles, Digital TV and games consoles on the way we communicate and use services. But, the generation I can’t wait to see grow up is the next generation - the under 7s. For now I’m going to call them the ‘Broadband Generation’ who take computers and the internet for granted, and already they are doing amazing things.
Just yesterday my brother was telling me how he’d found a new kids site on the internet and downloaded and installed a game from the site for my 5 year old niece to play with. The next day he came downstairs to find that not only had she started up the main PC and a browser, but she’d somehow navigated back to the site, found the section where the games were, and had downloaded a couple more games to play. Not bad for a 5 year old who can’t even read yet!
Definitely beats what I was doing when I was five - I think I was still playing with my Action Man when I was five!

I’m quite the opposite. I would love to give up my phone for a month. I’m sure I’d be much happier.

I started to be shocked, but then I looked back over the list and thought about it again. I can think of a lot of things I find more important than my cellphone, but nothing on that list is one of those things. At least, not for the time being
My daughter is 4 and also becoming quite computer savvy. Of course, I have her believeing we can only get to Nickjr on the Library computer.
Saves me from having her play the games here at home constantly.
