Ok, here’s the MyBlogEarnings report for June. If you are looking for some quick tips on generating more income from your site then check out my Guide To Making Money Online With Blogging.
It’s been an interesting month and although the month didn’t go exactly as planned, I’m still fairly satisfied with the results, although the performance over the last week or so has been a bit worrying and I think things are going to get even worse over the summer unless I take action fast.
Earnings Report For June 2006
Note: Figures for last month are in brackets and some numbers are estimated (in italics) as data for 30/6 was not available at the time of posting.
Despite having one less day this month I managed to break through $9k/pm, which now means that I’ve finally officially become a Six-Figure-Blogger!
- Google Adsense: $4,234 ($4,782)
- Intellitxt: $1,210 ($989)
- Text-Link-Ads: $1,010 ($780)
- Direct Ad Sales: $825 ($300)
- Tribal Fusion: $810 ($616)
- ReviewMe: $560 ($150)
- Feedburner FAN: $337 ($221)
- Chitika: $55 ($10)
- Blogads: $6 ($73)
Grand Total: $9,048 ($7,964)
Overall my earnings for June increased by 12% over May, which is very good given that I had one less day to play with in June. My goal next month is to try and maintain this level of income, which I think is going to be challenging with the summer fast approaching.
One thing that surprised me about my earnings is I’m somehow making more money than ever with Chitika, even though I’d taken down all my links! I must have a direct link somewhere within a product that has suddenly become popular.
Successes For The Month
Intellitxt
My intellitxt revenue continues to improve and every month I’m thankful that I went through the hassle of getting accepted. If you have a site that’s generating more than 250K page impressions a month you should give this scheme a go. Drop me a line if you want to get referred.
Direct Ad Sales
I finally managed to kick-start my sales plan and I’ve got a few things in the pipleline that I hope will close next month. I also managed to sell some links in the directory, as well as a few ads on the website and a direct review.
ReviewMe/Sponsored Reviews
I think the Reviews category I created so that advertisers can quickly see the reviews I’ve written is finally starting to work and hopefully next month I will get a few more reviews booked.
Adsense Stability
Although my Adsense earnings are lower than last month, I actually managed to have exactly the same eCPM as the record eCPM I hit in May. What brought my earnings down was the lower number of impressions I created in June.
Disappointments For The Month
Traffic Levels
Although on the face of it my earnings from impression related schemes look ok, I came in nowhere near the target I set based on the run-rate I’d achieved by the end of May. This is because my overall traffic dropped by 8% over the month so I need to work hard in July to stop the decline and to try and grow traffic.
This is going to be difficult as the summer holidays and the good weather are almost here. I know just how much traffic can slump over the summer from my day job, and things are only going to get worse in July and August unless I do something drastic.
FeedCount
With my traffic actually falling, I probably picked the wrong month to try and push my feedcount past 2000. I think I’m probably going to stop playing close attention to my feedcount as my site’s success comes mainly from getting Google traffic not links from other blogs that drive other bloggers to me, so I don’t think my feedcount is ever going to be high.
Plans For Next month
- Stop My Traffic Falling
The summer is almost upon us and my normal traffic is going to continue falling as people start to go on hols and spend less time online. So, I’m going to have to come up with some ways to try and widen my userbase.
- Close Some Direct Ad Deals
Hopefully I’ll be able to close a couple of the discussions I started last month. I think this is where any future income growth is going to come from as I’ve now maxed out and fully optimised my advertising programmes, and I’ve given up trying to generate affiliate income.
- Increase TLA Income
I’d maxed out my TLA income as I’d sold all ten of my links, so I contacted TLA and asked them to cancel two of my links. They weren’t too happy, but until they come up with a system that helps publishers with popular sites maximise their income I can’t see an alternative. Hopefully the two links that are now available will sell quickly.
I hope that the amount of information I have shared here will encourage you to do the same (An alternative way is to tag your post ‘MyBlogEarnings‘ so that your details can be found easily on Technorati), or provide you with food for thought. The more info we share with each other, the more we will all hopefully make.
