Remember To Check Your Credit Before Paying For An iPhone

Well, the iPhone mass hysteria is nearly over and I think I did a pretty good job of not joining in. I did spot one story on Valleywag however, that I thought was quite funny and worth sharing.

20 year old Kris Tate of startup Zoomr was second in line behind Robert Scoble and his son, and was streaming the whole event live. Unfortunately when he ordered his maximum 2 iPhones, his credit card was declined. He then tried to buy just one iPhone and his credit card still said no. S o he tried another credit card, and another, but the answer was still no.

The CEO of Zoomr Thomas Hawk then stepped in to try and help, but unfortunately he’d already used up his 2 iPhone quota. After 15 minutes of negotiations the store manager relents and lets Thomas pay for 2 more iPhones for a very embarrassed Kris.

I think someone was really trying to tell Kris that he really didn’t need an iPhone.

I used to hate it at college when I was low on money and going to the supermarket checkout - I always used to panic that I’d be that person that had to put stuff back because they didn’t have money to pay for it.
