Sony Drops Playstation 3 Price By $100

Sony have finally admitted that they made a big mistake when setting the price of the Playstation 3 and have just dropped the price by $100 in the US to boost sales, as it is currently been out-sold by both the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. However, even a $100 price cut will mean that the PS3 will cost $100-200 more than it’s competitors.

I really think that Sony are going to be facing some major financial difficulties in the next couple of years, as the PS3 was supposed to be the company’s saviour. The late PS3 launch and the flagging sales since, will mean that in future years Sony won’t sell enough games and accessories to recoup the huge losses it makes on each PS3.

Definitely not enough before the PS4 hits the shelves.

I’m still leaning towards a 360, HD-DVD support, Vista compatability and many more games already.

Sony still hasn’t given me a reason to want one of these. I’m surprised they are giving Microsoft and Nintendo such an opening to gain marketshare. If Sony hadn’t been so dead set on including Blu Ray in this console I think it would have sold.
