New Design Experiment
Everton | Jul 12, 2007 | Comments 18
Some of you may have noticed something new on the blog today. It’s a little experiment inspired by the ants that LetsBuyIt.com used to use.
Thoughts? Think it will work? I will be getting stats from the links from Add This! which I’ll share.

In what way?
you should get some nice stylish designs, instead of those buttons.
try deviantart or search around (something like Bill mention)
I noticed it as soon as I scrolled down the page. I’m actually very interested in your results with it. Although it takes up very little space, I think the “animation” may prove to catch the attention of quite a few folks.
I don’t like it man, sorry. I feel it is distracting.
it looks nice but you need to work on design ..and are you sure that it isn’t increasing the load time of your site.
@Daniel
It’s supposed to get a reader’s attention and be ‘distracting’. The trick is to make it not too distracting!
@Shashank
I’m definitely going to try and get better buttons. I don’t think it increase loadtime as the pages seem to be loading faster – I think because I’ve turned off the ‘Share This’ plugin which is a bit of a resource hog
I can’t agree more. The line between subtlety and distraction is a thin one but if something completely disappears into the body of the blog, what’s the point? As far as this particular implementation, I don’t have any great issue with it. If someone really enjoys your blog, I don’t see something like this as a deal breaker. Ultimately, the stats will tell if its serving its purpose.
I am finding it amusing. ;) I love floating aspects on blogs.
