The line between subtlety and distraction is a thin one but if something completely disappears into the body of the blog, what's the point? As far as this particular implementation, I don't have any great issue with it. If someone really enjoys your blog, I don't see something like this as a deal breaker. Ultimately, the stats will tell if its serving its purpose.

I can’t agree more. The line between subtlety and distraction is a thin one but if something completely disappears into the body of the blog, what’s the point?
