Giganews Increase Retention To An Amazing 200 Days

I just spotted that Giganews have completed their third upgrade this year, reaching a mind-blowing 200 days of binary retention.

I’m staggered by this increase as the number of updates going onto Usenet is still growing exponentially as the average connection speed of readers continues to increase, and the average size of files also continues to increase e.g. with lossless music files and HD video files.

I would love to know how much storage is required to hold 200 days of binary files. I wonder if Giganews are now one of the top 10 data storers in the world? They must be getting close.

its amazing store data for 200 days is remarkable. The are running some good rock solid hardware to support this. And it is costly too … :)

I’m not completely familiar with usenet groups, but from what I’ve read aren’t they the easiest and quickest way to get television and movies?

I wouldn’t say newsgroups are the easiest, but they are the fastest way to get content

Wow - that’s over half a year! Easynews only offers just over 30 days i think - Giganews is looking ever more appealing despite the extra cost!
