New Windows Live Messenger Client For Symbian Phones

Windows Live Client

My cousin showed me yesterday the amazing new Windows Live Messenger Client for Symbian phones on his Nokia N95, and I had to install it straight away as it was simply brilliant.

The client is an official Microsoft Windows Live client (v1.0.614) for Symbian S60 3rd edition phones which integrates Windows Live Hotmail, Live Contacts, Live Search, Live Spaces and Live Messenger with your S60 v3 mobile device.

Some of the features of the Windows Live Client include:

  • Synchronize Hotmail/MSN email and contacts with your mobile phone,
  • Add a personal display message like the PC version of WLM,
  • Send and receive files images, sound clips and voice clips
  • Play voice clips sent by others
  • Phone vibration when someone sends a buzz/nudge
  • Sort contacts by online status/display name

To download Windows Live client for Nokia S60 from PC, click here or to get it on your mobile, enter this Web address on your phone: http://file2mobile.com/get. Once you’ve downloaded the file you will be asked for a key - enter this one: 853651. In the download there are two files - make sure that you install the dep.sisx file first.

    Updated 2007-07-02: Now it seems to work for real!
    Note: This only works for Nokia devices with Symbian OS 9.1 (S60 3rd Edition).

    Instructions:
    1. Download http://www.endera.eu/sis/WindowsLive_S60_3_0_v_1_0_6141_Signed.rar
    2. Unrar the file
    2.a Google if you don’t now how to unrar (or what the hell, download Winrar from http://www.rarlabs.com.
    3. Transfer both files to the device.
    3.a If you don’t know how. Google is your friend or maybe you shouldn’t be doing this…
    4. Install in this order: 1. dep.sisx, 2. WindowsLive_S60_3_0_v_1_0_6141_Signed.sis.
    5. Enjoy.
