It seems that Nokia are in the process of improving the GPS function on the Nokia N95 through a firmware update. The new update for the Nokia N95 includes Assisted GPS (A-GPS) which lets N95 users connect to a dedicated Nokia server, to get satellite fixes in seconds rather than minutes.
The v12 firmware for the Nokia N95 is currently only available if you have an unlocked handset or if you send your handset back to the manufacturer. I was just about to send mine back, but I’ve decided to hold onto my Nokia N95 for a few weeks to see if the v12 firmware gets publicly released, as I really don’t want to be without my phone.
I’m also hoping that the firmware will finally fix the call quality issues, and also the occassional crash I’ve been having with my Nokia N95.
