Has Your Alexa Rank Gone South Recently?
Over the last 2 weeks my daily Alexa Traffic Rank has taken a major hit. After getting daily numbers consistently in the 10-14k range for the previous two months, my daily numbers over the last 2 weeks have been 25-40k despite my traffic actually increasing!
How has your Alexa rank performed over the last two weeks? I have a sneaky feeling that Alexa have changed the way that they calculate traffic ranks.

Thanks for this post. I checked my ranking and I too went south by half. I could not believe it as over recent weeks I have had a steady climb and though I was getting somewhere at last. Nice to know someone else has the same problem.

Actually, your rank can go down even if your traffic increases if someone else’s traffic increases more. For example, assume there are three sites: foo, bar, and qux. Week 1, foo has 3000 visitors, bar has 2000, and qux has 1000. Thus, they are ranked foo #1, bar #2, qux #3. If week 2, foo and bar each add 10% qux takes off and gets 2500 more, we have foo with 3300, bar with 2200, and qux with 3500. So even though bar has 10% more traffic, it goes from rank 2 to 3.
