Man, a lot of you people just don’t get it. Most of us musicians are getting screwed by illegal music downloads, and this is why- a great many of us don’t have the “big record companies” behind us that a lot of you say you are rebelling against, in order to justify your theft- many of us are going through independent production at our own cost,and paying thousands of dollars just to get our music out there for people to enjoy. We get music copyrights to supposedly help us control how we sell it. We can offer downloads for 50 cents a song and some A.H.’s out there will put it out for 20 cents an mp3 and sell a thousand copies…and that sucks. They (and you) are going to ruin music eventually. My band? Two albums later, thousands in debt doing our own production, we offer our downloads at a really good price and we can’t make even part of our costs back. You’ve made us quit publishing music.

Hehe, here at Czech republic they say in local news that “we are leading with illegal downloads” … anyways, they’re only surveys after all.

Also about downloading or not downloading illeagal music – in USA or GB arent CD so expensive (in comparison with wages) but in less advanced countries (like Czech republic, hehe) the price of one CD its just too big. Even considering the hard work behind those songs, only big fans own all CDs from their favourite interpret.

What i feel is downloading of the music should be FREE. Artist and Record companies should come up with a plan to make money from concert and merchandisers.

The more the music is spread the more they will become popular. If it is so why they allow Music Channels to Play their Music? Just for the purpose of getting fame? Yes they need to market themselves if they do it like the way the more artists will get more business. A central organization should be established that help artists do more business.

Piracy and Illegal download wont stop on the internet. So they should build such infrastructure that they can use to better market themselves.

As long as these music companies overcharge the consumer there will be illegal download and piracy. The ethical debate fall on the face when people see how filthy rich these record companies and software companies have become.

Piracy is wrong no doubt but to expect people are going to buy the original $19.95 CD so that the pop star could buy yet another mansion is utopian.

It is naive on the part of the record labels to expect the consumer to be ethical when they themselves overcharge unethically.

The way to go is to make piracy commercially not unviable, one example is this moserbaerhomevideo.com they charge $ 1- 1.50 for original VCD and DVD !

Considering that there is even a search engine for pirated software, there’s got to be a lot of people using it. I thought the states would be on top too. Those people should be ashamed to be downloading illegal music!

Illegal music download is a shame. People sould really consider the hard work behind all that music stolen shamelessly by those who think that when it's so easy, wy not do it? Ah la la.
Hard work is a great life value that everyone should live by and should be something teached a lot beginning at school.
The existence of poeple stealing music is simply the proof that work value is really an education lack of many people.
