I’m Lost Without My Nokia N95
One of the reasons I haven’t written a post this week is because I lost my Nokia N95 on the way to watch the Charity Shield match between Man Utd and Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday (some pics later). Luckily I left my phone in the back of a cab, and the cabbie handed it in. Unfortunately, the phone is still making it over to the Cabbie lost & found office at Baker St, so I won’t get my phone back until the weekend.
At first I thought it would be nice to have a bit of a break from the constant calls and SMSs, but it’s gone horribly wrong:
- I do most of my RSS reading on my Nokia N95 using Google Reader, so I haven’t been able to find ideas for posts
- My watch is currently being repaired, and I hadn’t realised how much I now rely on my phone to tell me the time. Travelling to work is awful as I have no idea if I’m late or early!
- I no longer get to manage my personal email account and I also now can’t access MSN Messenger
- I have no mobile music
- My diary at work is now a mess, and I have to print my schedule out every day and carry it around with me
- Oh, and nobody can call me or SMS me
I didn’t realise until this week how dependent I’d become on my phone. I will definitely take more care of my Nokia N95 when I get it back!
Here are the Charity Shield photos from Sunday. The new Wembley is an absolutely amazing stadium with a great buzz-lightyears ahead of the old stadium. I think the new stadium will be England’s secret weapon, as it is bound to intimidate the opposition and raise our players.
As you can see we had pretty good seats…and as for the hospitality, well……

Who are all the dudes in the red shirts? One of them reminds me of Shrek =P
Seriously I’ve got to see a match on Wembley someday, rather sooner than later.
About your N95. Isn’t it a really bad habit or dangerous to get so addicted to one device, that is so easily misplaced or lost?

In the past I’ve been pretty relaxed about my phone as all my contacts, photos, videos etc are all backed up automatically on my PC so I thought everything was replaceable. What has really hit me hard is NOT actually having the handset. Hopefully I’ll get it back today.

There is nothing worse than a lost or defective device. I guess these gadgets are our version of Tamaguchi?

I was always wondering what kind of people would lose their phones and notebooks in cabs: Now I know

I can’t tell you how stupid I feel. It’s because I had the phone in my hand as I was waiting for a call telling me where I needed to go to get a train that was leaving in 4 mins. As soon as the cab got there I just pegged it onto the train and forgot all about my phone.

Hard not to get attached to your favorite gadget. At least you’ll be getting it back. That’s pretty lucky.

Ah, Wembley… I was there to see Blackpool v Yeovil in the play off final which, of course, we won comfortably
Not keen on ‘Club Wembley’ (middle tier), in fact, I hate the idea, they were empty for the all play off games – which is a problem when there are fans locked out with so many empty seats.
The stadium itself is very impressive although my Dad prefers the Millennium Stadium.
btw. Nice seats!!
