Alexa Algorithm Update Completed

After seeing my Alexa rank go south over the last month or so, it seems as though whatever change Alexa made to their algorithm has been completed, as my Alexa Rank has returned to its old levels.

The sudden change in my Alexa Rank seemed to coincide with the launch of the official Alexa toolbar, Sparky.  What I think has happened is that sufficient users have now installed the Sparky toolbar to allow Alexa to calculate ranks ‘correctly’.

If you haven’t installed the Sparky Alexa toolbar, I’d encourage you to do so now, as well as encouraging your readers to do so, as this will almost certainly help to increase your Alexa Rank.

  • I heared the announcement that alexa has changed its ranking algorithm. I am little happy with this change because my website got little improvment. see new alexa ranking for http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?url=www.... Fortune Park Hotels Ltd.
  • I have more than 20,000 unique per day and my rank is 86,115 and some blogs have 3000 or 4000 and have a better ranking.
  • I installed alexa toolbar & widegt but no result see http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?url=www.... ranking of my website here.
  • Do you actually trust alexa? I think this is a big joke.. Let me tell you something:

I have two websites, one has around 5k uniques per day, and one has around 1k uniques per day. And guess what, the site with 1k uniques has a lower alexa.

So i think we shouldn't trust alexa. What do you think?

  • Does it just help you to measure your traffic, or it helps in bringing traffic also ?
  • I wont be able to see Alexa Ranking image at my end.
  • I saw a huge difference in my numbers with the release of the new too bar, too. And, not for the better I must add.

I question how valid Alexa rankings wil continue to be when it comes to determining the value of the the traffic to a website. We are still looking at the fact that the only traffic counted is the traffic associated with a tool bar.
  • Alexa is overrated, there should be another way of estimating traffic.
  • I don't trust alexa traffic ranking at all. no toolbar - no counts. I have a site have 1000-3000 visitors daily, only 700k alexa, and 300-500 visitors has 200k alexa ranking.
  • @Selborune: I really doubt that after they have changed the algorithm lately. Check out some of the post on Alexa's Blog.
