iPlagiarismcheck.com - Instant Online Plagiarism Checking Service
I finished my education just before computers became commonplace at schools and universities. At school I think we had a few computers that could be signed out and used for various lessons, although I don’t think many of my teachers were trained very well.
At University, all of my economics essays were handwritten and the only time I used a computer during my 3 year course was to to complete an Econometrics course I had one term, where I borrowed a friends computer so that I could write up my report. I did have a number of essays that were written by other people in my possession, but they were for learning purposes and to help me learn topics that might come up in written exams.
With the development of the internet, I can imagine how hard it must be for educational institutions to ensure that work turned in by students is genuine. In my day it was easy for a supervisor to spot a copied essay as it tended to be copied straight out of a textbook, whereas now an essay could be downloaded from anywhere in the world.
iPlagiarismCheck.com, who have just ordered a sponsored review, is a dedicated service that is designed to help academic, publishing and corporate bodies identify if work is genuine and not stolen. I couldn’t find a lot of information on how the technology works, which was a shame as I was genuinely interested. The technology is ‘patented’ so I guess iPlagiarismCheck don’t want to give away too much information, as it might inadvertently help cheats get around their service.
Documents submitted are compared against 8 billion documents, and 9 million articles with iPlagiarismCheck reports generated in as little as 1-2 minutes. Being able to check documents against that many articles so quickly must require a very efficient algorithm, and iPlagiarism claim that competing services take anything from 10 minutes to 24 hours.
iPlagiarismCheck offers a service for students to allow them to ensure they won’t be mistakenly accused of plagiarism. Being accused of cheating is a very serious offence at many institutions, and the stigma can stay with you for live. The service is reasonably priced in my view:
- Single documents can be evaluated for $5
- 5 documents for $20
- Unlimited documents checked - $35/mth
- Unlimited documents checked - $65/mth
iPlagiarismCheck claims that its prices are 35-70% less than for competing services. Either way, if you do purchase a package and you’re not happy with the service there is a refund policy although it’s not quite quibble free, and refunds may not be available once a document has been submitted for processing.
Do you have any experiences of using iPlagiarismCheck, or any other plagiarism checking services? Or, maybe you know somebody who got caught by one.

so this means that if I write an article on my site it will remain unique across the internet? this sounds very good!

It is also a dream come true for a teacher. Keeping track of plagiarism has become more difficult than ever with the internet.

Note: Angela appears to work for iPlagiarismcheck.com
Hey thanks for the review, I gave their services a try with a Single Document to check my college assignment draft. I must say, the report was not just compehensive but caught every one of my sources. Suffice it to say I ended up buying the unlimited-submissions package! Now I can atleast submit my papers with one less thing to worry about.
Great Service, well done guys!

Much better than CopyScape, CopyScape checks internet online, according to http://www.iplagiarismcheck.com/ they have a 3-tiered approach, which is much more impressive than CopyScape!

Angela Nevarez, mhhh. She is the administrative contact for the domain that iPlagiarismCheck uses to display the results. Seems to me that this is not quite above the board…..
