Improve Alexa Rankings With ‘Better Alexa Redirect Plugin’

A few weeks I got very excited about the launch of an Alexa Redirect Plugin that added an Alexa Redirect to all links, in an attempt to increase Alexa Rankings. I very quickly removed the plugin after some readers pointed out that it would play havoc with the Google crawlers.

However, I’ve just read about the ‘Better Alexa Redirect Plugin’ on One Tip A Day, that corrects this problem by using Javascript to alter the links, which won’t affect the Google crawler:

The particular plugin scans the entire set of links on any page of your blog while someone is watching it and it adds a JavaScritp event to each of them, which upon clicking on the link (no matter is it a Left Click or a Right Click) will prefix it with the Alexa Redirect URL: in this way the person visiting your blog will visit the desired URL by forwarding the URL to Alexa.

Sounds like a winner to me and I’m currently giving it a go. My Alexa Rank has finally stabilised after some rocky weeks, so I’m hoping that this plugin will help me hit my goal of breaking 10,000.
