I'm now on 10 categories and I'm thinking I could probably get rid of one other which I'm pondering on. Thanks for the prompt Everton! Maybe you aren't worried about this? But, I definitely do agree that too many categories is a turn off. I actually didn't know about those plugins. On one site I write for there are now 35 categories which is absolutely ridiculous, not to mention the fact that I am fairly sure my PR 'bleeds' around the site overly because of all of that.
