According to the official EA Sports FIFA 08 forum the release of the FIFA 08 Xbox360 and Playstation 3 is delayed in Europe.
We’re sorry to have to tell everyone that the FIFA 08 NG demo won’t be launching in Europe today as was expected. Although the demo is being released in North America there were a couple of issues which we couldn’t get ironed out in time to release today despite working through out the night to get these sorted.
We understand how disappointing this will be to everyone and we’re absolutely gutted this has happened.
VancouverBlade is currently over in the UK right now, attending a Community Day for FIFA and I was unfortunate enough to be with him as the news broke. It really was a massive downer for what was set to be a great day.
However through a little workaround you might still play the demo tonight.
According to several people you can download the demo from Playstation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace using an American or Australian account. Remember the Americans use NTSC TVs (PAL in Europe), so you might get it in black/white “colours”.
Here is how to do it on Xbox Live:
Visit Microsoft’s passport site and create a new Hotmail account. Pretend you’re from either Japan, Singapore, Australia or the United States when you fill out the form, depending on which demos you want to access, and make a note of the phone number you supply.
Use the local yellow pages or Google to get zip codes.
Once you’ve activated the account, turn on your Xbox 360, press the guide button and select “switch profile.” Then create a new profile and Xbox Live account, and enter the same phone number as before.
Unfortunately I don’t have a Playstation 3, so I can’t tell you exactly how to do it there.
Let me know if this works out for you. I’ll keep you updated on the latest news.
The demo is only available in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and United States. It is located under Genres, Sports and not under New Releases.
