iTunes Sync: Sync Other MP3 Players With iTunes

Well, I’ve just locked myself into Apple for a few more years. I’ve just ordered a 160GB iPod Classic which will become my main iPod as my 60GB 5G iPod will be going into my new car permanently when it arrives next week. This will be my 5th iPod and I briefly thought about breaking ranks, but I quickly came to my senses and placed my order.

If you are thinking about leaving the iPod family, or if you have another mp3 player that you want to sync with iTunes, then Martin has spotted that the latest version of iTunes Sync has just been released.

iTunes Sync allows most other mp3 players to sync with iTunes, which despite all the bloat, is still a good music manager. The new version of iTunes Sync is available in three languages which are German, English and Spanish. Other changes include reduced memory usage, proxy support, support for the three file extensions wma, wmv and asf, new folder structures and better handling of duplicate playlists.

160Gb? That’s more space than on my Core2Duo!

Perhaps I can expect a word processor and wifi on the next incarnation of the Ipod.

My music collection is at 120GB and rising as I’m in the process of converting my favourite CDs to the apple loseless format.

I can’t stand iTunes which is why I like the drag and drop functionality of most other mp3 players. But after reading this, I thinking that if I had a TON of music files, maybe I’d like iTunes more. *shrugs*

I’m rather tempted to cross over to the Creative Zen camp now I’m looking around for another mp3 player.

Not sure what to do, don’t have a particular like for iTunes, are there any other music managers of worth? I’ve never looked into how good Windows Media Player has become, also I see Winamp has had a new update, I’ve not used that for years.

Anyone has any views on these?
