Blog Rush Widgets Spreading Like WildFire- Feedback

Blog Rush widgets seem to have spread like Wildfire over the last couple of days, and I’ve spotted them on most blogs.

If you someone missed the news, Blog Rush is a new Blog Syndication network that displays links to your posts based on how many widget impressions you generate on your own site and on the sites that you’ve referred.

I decided not to add the Blog Rush widget to my site, because I think it will get a low CTR because I can’t blend it into my sidebar, so I just promoted it instead hoping that I’d get a few referrals. I’d be interested to hear if any of the people who have added the Blog Rush widget have noticed any additional traffic from BlogRush in their stats, or whether the widget has had any adverse effects e.g. on page loading times.

Update:  I just logged onto my dashboard and I’ve had just under 3,000 impressions and a paltry 2 clicks.  I’m definitely not adding the Blog Rush widget because as I expected it’s not driving traffic, because many bloggers are putting the widget in poor locations.  Even if I did add it, for my 17k or so impressions a day I would only get 11 extra visitors a day!

  • yea i would hold off on it.. it got a lot of plugs early on, but right now, it doesnt seem to be living up to everyones hopes/
  • lots of blogs are displyaing it abhishek, but how are you measuring impact?
  • Blogrush has been a boon to the blogging community as i see it. I have seen quite a numbers of sites using this now and it is certainly making an impact.
And as the word goes it seems its here to stay.

  • Where you put it Joseph has no impact as your inbound traffic is determined by which other bloggers display your posts and where on their sidebars. If it's hidden away far from a hotspot you're not going to get any clicks.

Blog Rush needs to reward bloggers that generate a high CTR to encourage good positioning, or something as there's no onus on bloggers than to place the widget somewhere
  • Hmm.... after some consideration I plugged int the widget across some self-help blogs with Alexa Rank 100,000 and below.

I didn't see much benefit after a few days.

Perhaps it works best for certain themes?
  • Pranjal, are you talking about page views or click-through's to your site? Because from the reviews that I've read, no one is getting that kind of traffic from this thing. You'd have to be getting some major traffic to your site.
  • Hey Everton, I've heard the same statics over at John Chow's site. I wouldn't mess with this lousy thing. It takes up screen real estate for a .000001 percent click through rate. I think the only way it would be worth it is if you could sign up thousands and thousands of referrals under you.
  • @pranjal

did you really get 80 visitors or are you telling porkies? I just logged onto my dashboard and from my 3,000 referral imps I got a grand total of 2 clicks....
  • @pranjal

I'm trying to put 80 new visitors into perspective - how much traffic do you normally get? What conversion rate did you get e.g. xxx widget impressions on your site per visitor etc
  • This widget REALLY WORKS!! I tried it on several blogs and I have seen wonderful results with it. It is simple to install and you will see immediate results upon using it...I recommend it to anyone.
