Mobile phone charger is to be standardised
I’m sure this post would lead to quite a few sympathetic comments. I myself have been suffering the mobile phone charger nightmare ever since me and my girlfriend got more than 4 phones 2 or 3 years back. it often takes me longer than 5 minutes to separate the charger cables , and find them back twisted together the day after…
….ahhh…!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, I couldn’t help but shouting out loud while typing this down….
I pray to the lord….
Well, it seems my prayers are being answered …
…sort of…
After the Chinese government recently mandated micro-USB as the future national standard for mobile phone chargers, OMTP (the Open Mobile Terminal Platform), the forum whose members include Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG, announced that micro-USB will be the future common connector for the mobile phones.
“What is micro-USB?”, you may ask.
well, I don’t know, my understanding is that it’s kinda a “Small USB”…which is:
“thinner than the currently ubiquitous mini-USB standard and therefore better suited to the ever-shrinking dimensions of mobile phones and other consumer electronics, was introduced to the world by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) at the start of this year. Like mini-USB, the standard also makes it possible to charge phones from PCs.”
I wonder what it looks like, maybe it’s just like my apple laptop’s usb charger…
Savvy?
