Free Mobile Phone & 12-month Free Line Rental

I wrote my first “How to Save Money” post 2 months ago after Everton’s rant about his broadband service provider, and here I am, writing another one, which will surely save you a lot of money while at the same time adding more problems to your mobile phone charger nightmare.

Some of you may not believe your own eyes after reading the title, and you’d think “That must be a scam!”

Well, you couldn’t be more wrong!

I have personally tried it and it really works.

How is it possible?

it’s pretty simple really. Go to Mobofones.com (a mobile phone comparison website which compares many mobile phone deals online everyday from major mobile phone outlets in the UK), and choose the 12 month free category, then you’ll see a long list of mobile phones with 12-month free line rental. Click on any phone that takes your fancy then you will see detailed info about it.

Here I will take the Samsung U600 as an example as it sits right at the top of the list

on this page you will see a list of mobile tariffs for the Samsung U600. Pay close attention to colomn 5 as marked below as info in that area tells you exactly how much it will actually cost from the specific mobile phone outlet

So the first row means that:

  1. The mobile phone network is T-Mobile ; the contract is 12 months; monthly bill is 35 pounds
  2. 450 minutes anytime any network voice call time
  3. You could get up to 900 texts alternatively
  4. FREE Samsung U600
  5. 12 months FREE line rental saving £420.00
  6. Flext gives you a monthly allowance which you can use for voice calls, texts and picture messages to any UK network at any time. Flext 35 gives you £90 allowance per month. This could be used for 450 pure minutes or 900 pure texts. Or you can use any combination of minutes and texts, such as 225 minutes and 450 texts. Line rental is £35.00 per month.

  7. It tells you that the average line rental after you claim your cash back is zero, and the whole contract cost your nothing
  8. It tells you which mobile shop the mobile phone and the contract is provided by

If you click Order Now, then you’d be sent to the order page and start the ordering process.

Please note that, if you want the Free Mobile Phone plus the 12 -month Free line rental deal, you’ll still need to pay your monthly bill as you normally do, the difference is that you can claim your cash back.

Within your contract, it will state clearly as how and when to claim your cashback.

If you don’t claim your cashback or forget to do so, then you will have to pay for the full fare

My experience has been good so far, and I hope you can save some money as well

  • Iteresting,  nice if you could pull it off
  • nice info, thanks for sharing i have site that compares phone deals offered by various companies
  • a good percentage of people cant forget to claim back or claim late, thats what the providers live off
  • mike, it seems that many people are raising the questions about how the companies would make a profit with cash back mobile phones deals.

so i will try to answer that here:

    1. with free mobile phone deals, it's really free for the customers if they claim their cash back on time. if they don't, money goes to the mobile phone outlets that are providing the phones and the contracts

    2. with the free mobile phone deals, the customers still have to pay their monthly bills, they cannot claim any of their cash back normally until the third contract month and they cannot claim it back all at once, which gives the mobile phone outlets the time to get hold of the cash using it to make some investments or simply put it in the bank for the interests.

    3. the mobile phone outlets don't only do free mobile phone deals, they have got many other phone plans as well.

    4. why are you guys worrying for? it's not like it's your company....just enjoy the cash back mobile phones while they last!
  • Nice. too bad this isn't available in my country though...

But i really can't see how are they making a profit with this kind of services, cause id doubt to many forget to claim back 400 pounds at the end of the period mentioned in the contract. At least i wouldn't... Or maybe people in UK don't read their contracts?
  • you're welcome, horisly.
  • thanks for your tips sharing.
  • hi john and harishankar,

i can see what you mean there, John, and I know people who sign up multiple phone deals; they sell the new mobile phones while using the 12-month line rentals with their old phones

let's say, you sign up 4 phone deals and you get 4 new mobile phones, sell them for 100 pound each. you get 400 pounds in profit on condition that you can claim your cash back in time

i wouldn't recommend this as many of us are not well organized.
  • that's right, chris. my girlfriend signed up a LG mobile phone with the Phone shop called "Mobile Outlet", but she didn't check the contract which stated that she had to claim the cashback within 21 days, so in the end she didn't get her money back!

Therefore, you have to pay extra attention to your contract and make sure you claim your cashback in time.
  • oh, Is that a game people playing out there? How come they run this business profitable?
