TNX.net - A Great New Way To Make Money Online
After a false dawn with CashCrate, I really think I have stumbled onto a great new way to make money online.
Over the last couple of months I’ve reduced the number of schemes that I utilise to generate over $15k per month from this site, and I’m certain that TNX.net will play a major role in the future.
TNX’s own site description describes it best:
TNX.net combines the benefits of Contextual Advertising, Text Link Brokers and Relevant Exchange of permanent non-reciprocal text links.
i.e. not only do they offer a great way for advertisers to place contextual ads, but webmasters and publishers can benefit from selling links, but also from using their ‘points’ to place text link ads on other sites.
When TNX.net approached me to write this review, it took a lot of self-displine to wait until their paypal payment arrived, as I wanted to tell my readers about this service anyway! TNX’s system works on a points system, where more points are required to buy links on pages with higher Page Ranks.
Purchasing links is very cost effective e.g. one text link can be purchased for just 1 point, with 1,000 points available for just over a dollar. The more links you buy the more traffic you will receive from search engines like Google, as well as directly from the links purchased.
When TNX adds new sites to its inventory, it indexes all pages and assigns them to relevant categories. Links are then sold via categories rather than via sitenames, in order to make it easier and quicker for advertisers to spread their links across a number of sites. Because of the spidering, your links will only be placed on relevant pages within sites, rather than being placed site-wide.
TNX have indexed over 24 thousand members global and with a database of over 33,500,000 pages, choosing by category is a much better option. I think this offers a major advantage over schemes like Text Link Ads, where links tend to be placed site-wide, so the targeting isn’t as great.
In addition to being able to select links by category, other filters are available:
- Yahoo Backlinks: Options are available to select sites with a minimum number of Yahoo Backlinks. More Yahoo Backlinks is a good indicator of whether or not a site is popular, and how much ‘link juice’ it will pass on
- Google PageRank: Buying links on relevant sites with higher Page Ranks will have better Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) benefits.
- Geo-targetting: A very handy option to ensure for instance that your links only appear on English language sites, or German etc etc
One neat trick that TNX.net recommend, which makes sense, is to buy links on pages with PR 0. This review for example, will initially be given a Page Rank of 0, but in time it will get a PR of 3-5, so getting in early could be quite clever.
Once you’ve chosen your basket of sites, you then have to create your adverts. TNX recommends that you create a t least 10 different variants and that at least 70% of the links point to internal pages, for the best results in search engines. They also advise that you make your ads actually look like ads, rather than a senseless bunch of keywords. For instance rather than displaying:
they advise putting some text before and after the anchor text to make the ad look more interesting and to encourage clicks e.g.
Register For Free £5!: Play Online Bingo - Dreambingo.com
I much prefer this approach to TLA’s, which focuses on playing anchor text on sites, rather than trying to make links enticing to readers.
Once you’ve created/uploaded your links, the final stage involves choosing the number of links you want on the sites that matched the options you chose. These are aggregated up, so if there are two or more sites that matched your criteria e.g PR5/ECommerce/YB 500-5000, then any links you purchase will be shared across those sites.
Make Money Selling Links On Your Site
Adding a site to TNX’s network is very simple. There are only two requirements:
- Website must be indexed by Google search engine.
- It must not be using free web-hosting services that do not support PHP, Perl or asp, aspx
Thus, the program is open to all sites, both big and small. Once you’ve added the code to your site, then TNX’s spider will index your site within 1-3 days, and after that your site will be available to advertisers who are buying links.
Only one link will be displayed on a page at a time, which will make accommodating the link on existing pages very easy. I think that this also works in the favour of advertisers, as it reduces the chances of their links being part of a huge long list of links on a page.
Once ads start appearing on your site you start to earn TNX-Points. These points can cashed in at anytime for dollars, or they can be used to buy links on other sites. 2,000 points are given away for free just for registering with TNX, and another 5,000 points for each site that you add to the network.
Lifetime Referral Scheme
TNX also have a very attractive Referral Scheme, where you earn 10% of all TNX-points that any Publisher that you recruit earns, or an Advertiser spends. This is a lifetime payment, so over time a substantial income can be generated just from firing off a few emails.
TNX.net is a very well thought out ad network, and I would recommend trying the service out to both buy and sell links, as it has already generated cash for me in under a week.

Pretty darn interesting, Everton. I usually look slowly at these things … but this post sent me over to tnx.net already and my first site is already in review.
And BTW. re: cashcrate. I never expected much from them, but set it up just to learn and I already have affiliates earning much more than I, so it’s certainly worth a little promotion even if I never plan on spending time filling out survey forms.
Comment by bledsled on 30 September 2007:
Man that service scares me as a marketer. Too many links too quick will only flag your site and/or get a penalty with google. I think the best thing i’ve seen to acquire links is the linkintxt from linkworth. kind of like a keyword renting thing is the best way i can explain it.
i’m a little confused on this txn in how you make money. do you just sell links on your site and earn monthly? If so, what is so different than any other place that sells links?
Comment by Everton on 30 September 2007:
The point about potentially acquiring too many links too fast is a good one. You can control this though by removing sites once you’ve selected your categories.
Publishers make money by displaying ads that are sold by TNX. It works in a similar manner to Post Level ads from TLA as ads are unique to each page, but are different as the ads can be displayed anywhere within a page. I prefer this as I can place the ads where I think they will work best.
Comment by Dave Starr on 30 September 2007:
The “place the ads where you think they will do best” part needs a lot of definition … excellent material for a tutorial style post. That aspect seems a little cloudy to me, I figured I would learn once they approve my site and see what happens with the original code I installed.
This service is confusing as are some others when they emphasize “pages”. How many “pages” does a blog have? Just one? The number of links to Google or Yahoo, the number in individual “page” format in WordPress (which are really only blog posts tagged and displayed differently … or???
And on a separate note: Thanks for turning on the comment feed in emails, Everton.
Comment by Tomaz on 30 September 2007:
Good review but you didn’t mention whether these links have to be paid monthly like TLA or are they permanent ones. (which would be really good)
Comment by Everton on 30 September 2007:
@Dave
With TLA’s post level ads the ads go within the posts, whereas with TNX you can put them anywhere on the page i.e wherever you want to place them. I agree that the TNX site is a bit hard to follow in places, and I think it was put together by someone who’s first language isn’t English. I really think it would benefit from someone who can write good punchy copy.
@Tomaz
It’s neither. You buy a number of links, and the number of page impressions on the sites you choose will determine how long your links will last for.
Comment by Everton on 30 September 2007:
oh yeah Dave, I’d like to take credit for turning on the comment feed, but it was an accident that happened when I upgraded the plugin. I would have done it when I remembered though, because I believe that keeping my regular and loyal readers happy is a priority.
That’s why I’ve stopped accepting feed adverts from FAN, as the cash I was receiving didn’t justify upsetting my loyal RSS readers

LEt me see how it works for advertisers.
Comment by Micah on 1 October 2007:
This sounds like it could be a good alternative to TLA. Are you saying that a link depends on the amount of pageviews a site gets? If that’s the case, I am not so sure a lot of advertisers would like that. Especially if a site gets Dugg, the link may last only a couple of days. Or am I wrong here.
Comment by Everton on 1 October 2007:
@Micah
You’re right if a page suddenly gets more traffic then the link will only be displayed for a while. But, TNX hopes that because the ads are more appealing than TLA ads they will actually get clicks, rather than just being there for PR purposes.

I think you’ll find it’s a different set of advertisers on the two networks. Also, you can place the TNX ads in a different part of your site layout to keep them apart.
One of the big advantages of TNX is they spread the advertising rather than a handful of sites getting all the ads, so you really have nothing to lose by adding your site!

I registered as an advertiser and out of enthu I selected many high pr pages to display my ads and gave a big number when I selected “how many pages should the site show your ad?” and it ate 25$ in a single day. Its a lot to me… to spend for ads.
Anyway most of the pages which displayed the ads were from Connectedinternet.co.uk. So I learnt I have to wait to see more publishers and now freezed my ad campaign for a while…
Comment by John on 3 October 2007:
Harishankar,
When you get to the third step of creating your campaign, you are given an option to restrict the number of websites that will link to your domain. You are also able to place more orders for links with different PR and YB so they are placed at more websites.
I am using TNX myself, and it works out for me just fine. You just need to give it a little more time and effort to find all amazing things TNX can do.
Comment by Harishankar on 3 October 2007:
yes, I just wanted other to be careful in putting some more time in setting up their campaign. As I went wrong in choosing many high value links.

Comment by Everton on 4 October 2007:
you earn points rather than cash for selling links - better links=more points. You can then sell your points back to TNX for cash at an agreed rate, or use them to buy links at an agreed rate, OR you can sell them to other users at an agreed rate.

I read someone posting against this article saying “Google will ban your site for getting bulk number of links suddenly.”. I don’t think thats true as Google doesn’t crawl all the websites all of a sudden as a magic to find all our links at the same time. And our links are spread across a lot of websites.
The person who posted also said he is afraid coz “we are adding a code to our site when we publish ads and with which Google can find its sponsored ads.” Even this doesn’t make sense as TNX.net gives you a php code and what all does your site show to Google or anyone else is just the link and text and not any javascript like other link brokers.

i have just sign up recently myself and hoping to sell some links

Ouotes from around the web regaurding TNX…
====================================
Just a quick heads up for those of you rushing in to apply for this:
Quote from Matt Cutts of Google back in January of this year: (http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/undetectable-spam/):
“Suffice it to say, if “undetectable to search engines” is listed as one of the major selling points of a particular link scheme, it probably violates our quality guidelines and the guidelines of other major search engines.”
==============================================
A forum post…
TNX’s home page has been stripped of all Page Rank manually by Matt Cutts. This is quoted roughly from the owner of the services. So, lets see, I want to run out with my site that has PR and connect it to a site that has been made an example of by Google.
I think not….
=============================================
“You are right, we were waiting for Matt Cutts to manually remove TNX from the first page of search results for “buy links” “sell links” etc. after month of being there. It was predictable and would happen sooner or later.”
“Search engines can not evaluate quality of websites, that is why we sometimed do accept such websites into the system, because its PR is all that matters to us and our clients.”
and you have been stripped of it?????
“TNX has PR0 because Matt Cutts has manually zeroed it + removed this powerful network from all top positions in Google results…”
So tell me again why would I want to be a part of that????
“TNX used to show up in SERPs at the TOP-1 by keywords such as “text link ads”, “buy links”, “sell links” and many more until Matt manually banned us. ”
————————————————————————————-
By your own admission, goolge has penalized your site thus not approving of you system. Maybe it’s not the best system? Wouldn’t want that to happen to my site.
Comment by Jeff on 27 January 2008:
joe, this system is used to manipulate Google SERPs, of course it is bad for Google and G. guys do everything to scare away TNX clients which is totally normal.
See, f**ken G. has scared you away and you didn’t even try the system out …

@ Wayne,
Hate to sound argumentative, but misinformation is misinformation, and people tend to read things they see as fact.
John Chow has never claimed to be a millionaire. He might be, but he certainly never said so. His current year income, which he described in detail on a thtree-post series about his taxes this year is far from that of a millionaire.
And one thing he has said numerous times on his blog … “this blog is not my major source of income, I started it less than two years ago as a hobby.”
Don’t get me wrong, I like John and read his stuff … and his personal blog has been way more successful than he expected, but no way has blogging m,ade him a millionaire … based n his own information.
