Blogger Cribs: Daniel Scocco!!

Daily Blog TipsWelcome to the Fourth Edition of Bloggers Cribs!!!

After a short break (I forgot to post last week!) we’re back! Reading Bloggers Cribs for the first time? Well, every week Bloggers Cribs features one blogging ’superstar’, who will let us briefly into their homes to share what gadgets and other electronic delights they have dotted around their home, so you can see if they actually use the products they blog about. So far we’ve had a brief look into the lives of Matt Craven, Darren Rowse and Leo Babauta.

This week on Bloggers Cribs, we have Daniel Scocco from Daily Blog Tips. Daniel’s blog is only around 1 year old, and has been immensely successful. I first met Daniel when he purchased some advertising on this site (probably why his site is so successful now!), and we’ve become good blogging friends since then, and we chat regularly on MSN Messenger.

If you’re looking for tips on how to improve your blog, then Daily Blog Tips is a great feed to subscribe to.

Daniel ScoccoWhere do you live Daniel?

Sao Paulo, Brazil

PC or Mac and why?

PC. I used to have an iBook, and it worked pretty good. One thing I did not like about it, though, was the fact that I could not tweak things too much. There was not a lot of flexibility, I was forced to use Apple’s solution most of the times. I am considering to go Linux one of these days.

How many PCs do you own?

I own Toshiba Satellite laptop (P4 3.2GHz, 1G RAM). I also have a desktop PC on my house, but I only use it when I need the powerful video card.

What PC rig do you use to manage your site?

Usually I work on the laptop. But lately I am considering to buy a big arse monitor and work from the desktop, I think this would increase my productivity.

IE, Firefox or other?

Firefox all the way. Much more secure and customizable.

What mp3 player do you own?

I forgot the brand, but it is a really small one that packs 1G of memory. I have never been an iPod fan. My players costs a fraction of the money and does the job.

How big is your mp3 collection?

Around 1,000 tracks. I lost several hard disks on the past though so it would be higher by now.

Object of Desire - what gadget would you buy if money was no option?

Are cars considered gadgets? They get featured on Engadget some times so :). Anyway I would buy a Porsche. If money was not a problem as you said it would be a 911 Turbo. (yeah baby!! - EB)

What has been your most outrageous gadget purchase?

I do not spend money on gadgets. I am a very minimalistic guy. On my bedroom you will find a desk, my laptop and books. Other than that I just own an MP3 player because I work out a lot and I like to listen to music while training.

How many TVs do you own? How big is your biggest screen?

I don’t own TVs. In fact I don’t even watch them regularly. There is a TV on my living room though (I moved back with my parents when I went full time blogging) and I use it to watch movies occasionally.

What kit do you have in your main AV Centre?

It is just the stereo connected to the TV.

Xbox 360, Wii or PS3? Do you own more than one?

My brother owns a PS2. I owned a PS1 but stopped playing it a long time ago. I do play PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) once in a while with friends though.

What game are you currently playing?

PES

Favourite game of all time?

Counter-Strike. I used to be addicted to that. Luckily I stopped playing some 4 years ago, it was such a time drainer.

What gadget are you looking to buy in the next year?

A big monitor as mentioned before. 21′ or 24′ maybe.

What mobile(s) do you own? Why did you choose that model?

I own an old Nokia. Not a big fan of mobile phones either, as long as it makes calls and does not look like a brick I am OK with it.

What gadgets do you carry around in your gadget bag?

Just the MP3 player.

If you could keep only one gadget, what would it be?

The MP3 player :)

Like Leo, Daniel leads a very uncluttered life, which is not very surprising when you consider their style of blogging.
Next week I’ll be featuring another celeb blogger. Let me know if there’s any one you want to see in a future Bloggers Cribs, and Everton’ll will try and fix it.

Makes sense, being a minimalist. Cuts the spending fat and builds the financial warchest.

This guy can be an effective banker!

    @Vincent

Because they don’t blog about tech stuff!!! Just having a blog and using a computer doesn’t make you a tech blogger.

That’s interesting. Minimalist approach too. For me, it’s a bad thing if I’m too productive heh.

[...] Internet has a nice interview with one of the famous people in the SEO blogging industry, Daniel Scocco from Daily Blog [...]

I wouldn’t class Daniel or Leo as tech bloggers though Greg

This is not the first successful blogger that you have profiled who considers himself a minimalist. Perhaps there is something to that. I am forever being distracted from doing the most important activities because of my overindulgence in all things tech.

Doesn’t spend money on much of anything huh? Sounds like he’s pretty dedicated to the blog.

No TV and not many gadgets, I guess that’s a way to get a lot of blogging done. Sounds like he’s been pretty successful too. I’ve been to his blog, it’s pretty interesting. Leo Babauta was minimalist like this too, maybe there’s something linked between that and successful blog?
