I fully agree with Martin than 300_250 and 336_280 are the most converting.
Tip 1 is a bit risky. Adsense is the main money maker of many blogs and until this sort of implementation is not officially approved, i won’t recommend anyone to try it. As far as tip 2 – It’s a good idea, buit need to be wisely implemented.

The exception to using banner ads (which tend to be ignored) is to insert it in between very long paragraphs, so it looks like a part of the paragraph.

I also find it helpful to place adsense blocks near download links on my freeware page. But mind you- not too near or Google would warn you. 14pt is enough distance between the links and the blocks.

I think that most people won’t have the patience to do the “image” thing but you never know.

I just hope that they don’t get a “love note” from Google also……

Another thing that came to mind while I was typing in my comment was that a lot of people have blogs on blogger.com and putting images on the side requires that you have a “hosting” site since blogger won’t just take any image source.

Hoto: Most webmasters changed their payment method from Checks to Bank Deposits which is far more convenient.

If you do get 4%+ CTR you should not change anything. If it is below that figure and you are running a blog or similar website you should consider changing ad placement and appearance.

Good stuff though, I need to start working on my ad placement, as it’s getting me pretty awful conversion rates. I love the postcard one, but I can never find enough space on my pages to put a normal ad, let alone something huge. I guess I just need to be more creative and eek out a bit more space for the moneymaker.

I played with various Chitika and Adsense combos that were all given a green light by both Google and Chitika representatives.
