If you’re looking to lighten your PA system but still have plenty of bottom, this is a great choice. Size and weight can’t be beat at this price anywhere. These subs work very well and sound very good. The only negative, and a small one, is that they are not as efficient as the higher priced units, so you should make sure your amp has enough power. Nowadays that is not a big issue because of the availability of low-cost high-power amps. These subs have built-in crossovers, but will sound better if you use a passive crossover in front of your amp. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and wish I could get more at the price I paid.

The beginning of this post sounds identical to content that a client has given me for his website although instead of a subwoofer, he assumed you already had the subwoofer with the surround sound.

He said something pretty darn close to “You bought a big high definition television that has a beautiful picture. After that, you spent a little money putting together a 5.1 audio system. Movies and games look and sound better than you ever thought they could in your home. Are you finished? Nope. There is still one piece of the puzzle missing before you can enjoy theater-beating sound in your home.”

I’ve found the best way to position a subwoofer is to put it where you tend to sit and then crawl around the room on hands and knees to find where the bass sounds best, and then position the SW there

Like I mentioned in last week's 5 Things You Need To Know Before You Buy An AV Receiver, 7.1 is really only advantageous for long rooms. I would start thinking 7.1 if my listening room was 20+ feet. The mid surround info in 7.1 channel, except for the couple of instances on Blu Ray and HD DVD where a discrete 7.1 channel track has been included, is matrixed.

I prefer to save money and build a powered subwoofer myself. It was easy and took only about an hour.

Very interesting detail information, now I use Creative Inspire 5.1 for PC games, but for home theater need for more quality system. Will choice among SVS, Hsu, Elemental Designs

One tip: take one of those megabass CDs produced by rappers when shopping for subwoofers. These eardrum busters help uncover subwoofer flaws in just seconds.
